Steps to Successful Wedding Cake Preparation

Prep the cake pans by spraying with nonstick cooking spray, line the bottom with parchment paper and grease spraying the parchment paper.Prepare your cake batter. Be sure the dough is smooth before filling the pots.

Fill the pot with dough and make sure to fill it evenly. They want a uniform height for each layer, so this is important.

Bake layers for all animals together in the oven. Different levels can be baked individually, but all the layers of an animal must be baked at the same time.

Refrigerate for about 20 minutes each layer, so that they cool in the pans before removal. After removal from the mold, each layer, place it on the cooling rack to cool completely.

Place each layer on its round cardboard and wrap it in plastic wrap. Keep the layers at room temperature, wrapped in this way, while you prepare the fillings and glazes.

Unwrap the layers and make them even by cutting off any bumps carefully with a sharp knife. Measure and mark the various levels around the middle with a toothpick. Cut each layer in half along the markings. That makes two shifts per animal.

Add the filling and be sure it is distributed evenly, then place second layer on top.

Apply a little icing on each layer and then stored in the refrigerator for two hours the animal.

Remove the layers from the refrigerator and freeze everyone with a warm icing spatula. Begin at the beginning, and then frost the sides. You may need several layers of frosting, the frosting looks so smooth. In frosting between industries, which shifts cold again.

It’s time to assemble the cake! Cut about five dowels to the height of the bottom layer and add it to about an inch-and-a-half in the around the perimeter of the cake. For most Chinese, the color red is their symbol for weddings. The color white is not a common color used in weddings. White is commonly associated with funerals that is why they do not use white on their invitations, decorations, and with their bridal clothing. Red ink on white paper is also not used since white means death. They mostly use gold on reddish paper or cream color with their invitations.

The Japanese people are somehow a bit the same with their Western tradition when it comes to weddings. Weddings in Japan are divided into two categories: the traditional Shinto ceremonies and the modern Western-style ceremony.

The traditional Shinto ceremony happens at a Shinto shrine and the Japanese bride-to-be may be painted pure white from head to toe. This is to declare the bride’s maiden status to the gods. One of the most unique wedding cakes that I have seen so far has to be a Chinese wedding cake. It was a three layered red cake, decorated with the most intricate detail and flowers. Another strange wedding cake one couple had was a Phantom of the Opera wedding cake. This one was just one layer, and it was white, black and red, with the white mask sitting on top of black icing, and a red icing “cloth” draped over it.

Another unique and not often used wedding cake idea is a cupcake wedding cake. All you have to do is buy a cupcake tree and bake and decorate cupcakes to place on it.

Mangan tradition: The mangan is another ritual performed during the pre wedding ceremony. In this ceremony, people bless the bride and apply turmeric paste on her body. After this ritual bride’s take a ceremonial bath.

Diya mangula pujo: Diya mangulo takes place at Devi’s temple where a female barber offered the bangles, sindoor, toe ring and sari to the Goddess. The God invoked for a happy and long married life.

Barajatri and badhuaa Pani Gadhua: The arrival of the groom is known as ‘Barajatri’. It’s the ceremonial convoy where groom, groom’s family and friends arrive at the mandap along with glory and gaiety.

Kanyadaan: In this ritual, the bride’s father gives her daughter hand to the groom’s hand. This ceremony held at the mandap which decorated with the flowers and leaves. The bride’s father gives his daughter’s hand with the promise that he will take care and protect from all the evils.

Haatha ghathi custom: Haatha ghathi is the seven vows ceremony. The bride and groom take around the sacred fire along with the mantras and shlokas.

Griha pravesh: The newly wed couple arrives at groom’s house. The groom’s family warmly receives the bride at her new home. This is the welcome ceremony known as ‘Grahpravesh’.

Astha mangalam: Astha mangalam ceremony performed on the eight day of the wedding. On this day newly married couple arrives at the bride’s house where bride’s mother serves delicious and yummy food.

The bridal of Orissa wears a sari or lehenga in rich colors like red, maroon, pink, magenta and vibrant. The wedding sarees are usually made of cotton, silk and chiffon.
